Wessex Media Group (WMG) provided strategic leadership training to high achieving police officers in Nairobi. The delegates had been carefully selected following an interview process, and were being developed to deliver change improvement across the police service in Kenya.

Lena Samuels delivered the Chartered Management Institute level 7 accredited modules as part of the College of Policing’s Senior Command and Leadership Programme. Through taught sessions and participatory learning, the students developed an understanding of how to create a sound strategic foundation in order to achieve operational success. This included knowing how to develop key stakeholder relationships, understanding the cultural dynamics of their organisation and how to overcome barriers, both internally and externally, in order to achieve their objectives.

Assignments provided the evidence of the students’ understanding as they articulated how theory would be applied to their organisation and the portfolios they were responsible for. A range of comments from the students demonstrated their appreciation:
